Hooray for Hollywood!
Traveling has always been exciting for me, and as I’ve grown up, it’s become more and more of an emotionally satisfying experience than just “Yay! Let’s go on vacation.”
And traveling with friends is far more special. The memories just mean more.
Cat Naps
Perhaps it’s a sign of my getting older, but I find I’m taking more and more naps lately. Not necessarily naps where I actually sleep, but some time to lay down and unwind and zone out for awhile.
Everyday after work and after getting home from the gym, I lay down in bed and give myself about an hour to just relax.
A catnap, if you will.
An appropriate name for it as someone else in my house has taken to enjoying these naps with me.
Can you blame her though? Who wouldn’t love cuddling with me?!
Up on the Roof
This past weekend, my friend Lorianne (you may remember her from the Vermont skiing trip earlier this year and from the trip to Ovo several weeks ago) threw a rooftop party to kick off the summer season.
Basically, it made me want to move to Hell’s Kitchen even more than I already did before. But until I’m independently wealthy and can afford a place with the space I desire in that neighborhood, it’s never going to happen. But, damn, it sure would be nice.
Especially if I had a gorgeous rooftop deck like her building has.
I arrived early to keep her company while we staked our claim on her roof, and while we waited for the other guests to arrive, we had our own little photoshoot. God bless the self-timer on cameras!
Here’s a sampling of some of the pictures we took as we welcomed in the summer season!

Lunch Date
One of the only things that can make having to work on such a gorgeous Saturday tolerable is when one of your friends surprises you by meeting you for a lovely lunch al fresco.
And that’s why I love Kimo.

Ovo!
This past weekend, I was able to attend one of my favorite forms of live entertainment: Cirque du Soleil.
I’ve been a fan for years, and have had the pleasure of seeing several of their shows in person, though there are still many more that have thus far eluded me. Someday though.
Their production known as Ovo just started performances here in NYC, and so naturally I had to go see it. Joining me for this production was my friend, Lorianne.
Here are some pictures of our circus-filled day…
The view of Manhattan as we waited on the dock for the ferry to come get us.
The United Nations as we cruised on by.

Feelin’ Groovy as we sailed underneath the 59th Street Bridge.
The Happy Circus-goers enjoying a gorgeous day on a dead-body filled river.

Celebrating our arrival to Randall’s Island with Lorianne’s windblown Medusa hair.

The Grand Chapiteau
The Empire State Buiding welcomes us back to Manhattan after the show.
Twas a lovely day. Weather, Show, and Company. All lovely.

A staple of any visit to a Disney theme park is meeting the costumed characters who roam around the park. Apparently, over the past year, that tradition has found its way to Times Square. But it seems like some quality standards have been lost along the way.
I see these people everyday as I leave work, and I finally got some pictures of the ridiculousness of it all.

Quick Tip: You’re more believable as the character if you put the head on.

Quick Tip: You’re more believable as the character if there isn’t an exact duplicate standing ten feet away. Spread out!

Two weeks ago, we had our first really nice day of spring weather. When I came home from work, I decided to enjoy it with a walk through the park a couple blocks from my apartment. I took my camera with me in case I found anything worth taking pictures of. What follows is a short little photojournal of my first Spring 2010 walk.

Then I decided to have a little fun and threw some UFOs into the mix.
Birthday Girl
Today is my sister’s birthday and my mom sent me this cell phone picture from their dinner at some Mexican restaurant. Apparently my niece decided to embarrass her mom and made the waitstaff put this hat on my sister and sing to her.
‘Atta girl! Just what I would have done had I been there.
The most comforting thing is knowing that no matter how old I get, she’s still older.

Reunited and it Feels So Good
Look what came back from the doctors at the Genius Bar yesterday. Good as new and life is beautiful again!

Bossy Bear in Philly
As I mentioned earlier this week, Bossy Bear accompanied me to Philadelphia and had a great time seeing the sites. Here’s a handful of pictures from his day in Philly.

And just in case you were curious, I shockingly am a grown adult.
