If… (Week 69)

This is week sixty-nine in my personal “If… Project” in which I answer questions from the book “If… (Questions for the Game of Life)”

There are 125 pages of this book, each with four questions. I plan to take one page each week and answer the questions as thoroughly and honestly as I am able. In addition, I invite you to answer the questions along with me, whether it be in the comments section, your own personal blog, or just within your own thoughts.

Perhaps in doing so, we will get to know each other better, but even more importantly, get to know ourselves better.

This week’s questions:

If you could keep only one thing that is in your bathroom right now, as the only thing in there forever, what would you save?

I know it’s pretty sophomoric, but there is a street sign in my bathroom that I’ve had for over ten years now. I found it in the trash back when I was in high school, and kept it because I knew it would be a great piece of decor for a bathroom. As I get older, I find I am more and more tempted to be more mature and get rid of it, but the child inside refuses to let me get rid of it.

If you could have prevented one event in history, what event would you eliminate?

Oh good God, how is someone supposed to pick from all the wars, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, crimes, etc. I suppose I’ll pick the holocaust. But I’m pretty torn up about it.

If you had to rename your hometown, what would you call it?

NickyNaxLandia-o-Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong

If you could teach your children only one lesson in life, what would it be?

To always be the grandest version of the greatest vision of themselves.

Those are my answers to this week’s questions. What are yours?

If… (Week 68)

This is week sixty-eight in my personal “If… Project” in which I answer questions from the book “If… (Questions for the Game of Life)”

If you could take away the vocal chords of any person, who would it be?

Bobcat Goldthwait

If you had to have one platonic friends witness your next sexual act, who would you ask?

This exact question came up in a previous week, only it had to be a family member. Kinda shocked they started with family and moved to platonic friends. You’d think they woulda started small and then gotten more interesting.

Regardless, I pick Erin. She’d get all into it and be a sideline cheerleader. It’d make it more fun.

If you could be a guest on any television talk show, which would it be?

Ellen’s. No question about it.

If you were suddenly naked in front of everyone at work, what would you want them to say?

“Not too shabby”?

Those are my answers to this week’s questions. What are yours?

If… (Week 67)

This is week sixty-seven in my personal “If… Project” in which I answer questions from the book “If… (Questions for the Game of Life)”

If you could invent one new home appliance, what would it do?

It would be a cleaning robot that could handle every type of cleaning without needing any attention from me. I would turn it on when I left for work in the morning and by the time I have gotten home, it has swept, dusted, done the dishes, done the laundry, watered the plants, etc.

If you were able to be someone’s personal computer, whose would you like to be?

Someone who runs a porn company. I imagine they would have a ton of images and videos on that hard drive.

If you were to be a news correspondent posted to any foreign country, where would you like to go?

I think the UK. English is still the main language, so living there would be fairly easy in that respect. And it’s close enough to many diverse European countries to visit on long weekends and vacations.

If you had to choose a time in history when overall things were worse than any other single time, when would you say it was?

Well, the Depression sounds like it was a big ole downer. Then again, I’m sure in times of World Wars, things weren’t so peachy either. But I don’t think anything can compare to the massive suckage and complete obliteration of life of the meteor impact that caused the extinction of life on the planet and the beginning of the Ice Age. That had to be a pretty bad day.

Kimo Day

I had the day off from work, and no real plans, so my friend Kimo decided I would be spending the day with him doing something. I had no idea what, and he always refuses to tell me in advance. But that’s part of what makes spending time with him fun.

My day started with sleeping in. So it was off to a perfect start.

I met Kimo at Herald Square where he proceeded to guide me throughout the area until we reached our destination. But along the way I fell in love with the most perfect man in the world. He was tall. He was tan. He was toned. He was quiet and would never talk back. And he was missing a hand, so he would never hit me. It was love at first sight.

His hand wasn’t the only thing he was missing, so I decided perhaps he wasn’t the perfect man for me, but if I was 35 and still single, I would come back for him.

Our first stop ended up being a flea market in Hell’s Kitchen where we just casually browsed the booths and enjoyed looking around. Kimo was looking for a hall table, because he’s a closeted interior designer and if I ever have enough money to REALLY decorate my home, I would want his help.

We stopped into a restaurant next door to the flea market where Kevin and I used to go to Sunday brunch a lot. We bellied up to the bar to get a beverage, and the bartender invented a drink on the fly for me. Since I know nothing about alcohol I will never remember what was in it, but I know it had some unsweetened tea and some ginger. While I wanted to name it after myself, I didn’t think Nick sounded like a very sexy alcoholic drink, so we opted to name it after the bartender instead, and I became the first person to ever drink a Spicy Marino.

I don’t even know if that’s how you spell his name. But that’s how you spell the drink.

As we left the area, I took a picture with the flea market’s mascot. I think I’m in love with him too.

From there we walked south until we stumbled into a Whole Foods to get something to eat. We got our food and headed out in search of somewhere to actually eat it. Ultimately we ended up next to the park in the Flatiron District. Pulled up a table and chairs and had ourselves an al fresco lunch where Kimo took time to emphasize the importance of remaining hydrated while running around out and about. (Oot and aboot for all of my Canadian friends)

After lunch we continued our walk until we arrived at where Kimo had planned our adventure to end: a Vegan Ice Cream Parlor.

He takes such good care of me.

He treated me to a cup of Peanut Butter Fudge while we sat on the stoop of an apartment building across the street from an old fashioned church that had to be a almost a couple hundred years old.

All in all, we didn’t do anything extremely exciting or eventful. But what made the day was the company I shared it with and the time we spent together.

And really, isn’t that what this journey of life’s about? It’s not what you do or where you end up. It’s about the people you share your life with and the joy you create along the way.

And about finding a man who isn’t missing vital body parts.

If… (Week 66)

This is week sixty-six in my personal “If… Project” in which I answer questions from the book “If… (Questions for the Game of Life)”

If you had to permanently give up your children to the care of someone you know, who would you wish it to be?

Well, thank goodness I don’t have children and don’t even have to consider this scenario in my real life. I can’t imagine how terrifying it is to know that you may no longer be around to care for your children and have to have them then be raised by someone else.

I would love to have them be raised by my mother or someone in my immediate family. I think it’s important to keep them with family if at all possible.

If you had to give up your children to the care of someone famous, who would you pick?

Oprah. That lady has got some good money with which to take good care of my kids. They’ll get all of her favorite things each year!

If you were to select a food that best describes your character, what food would it be?

Tofu! And let me tell ya why…

On its own, and at first glance, it might appear to be kinda plain and non-special. But once you start cooking with it, you find that it’s very versatile, can take on many many flavors, and is quite enjoyable.

Just like me!

If you could arrange and jam session with any three musicians in history, who would you include?

Jewel. Pink. And Christina.

I’m a fierce lady singer deep down inside somewhere, apparently.

Those are my answers to this week’s questions. What are yours?
